A hysteroscopy is an in-office procedure where Dr. Freeman-Kwaku uses a thin camera to look inside the uterus and identify the cause of abnormal bleeding, polyps, fibroids, or other concerns.
Most patients tolerate the procedure well with minimal discomfort. Dr. Freeman-Kwaku will discuss what to expect and any comfort measures available before your procedure.
The procedure typically takes 10 to 30 minutes and is performed in our office.
Most insurance plans cover diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy with a co-pay. This is significantly more affordable than having the procedure done in an operating room.
No. A hysteroscopy examines the inside of the uterus. The Cerene® procedure treats heavy menstrual bleeding by ablating the uterine lining. They are different procedures, though hysteroscopy is sometimes performed as part of the evaluation for Cerene®.
