Dr. Mala Freeman-Kwaku is a board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist at Arboretum Gynecology. She completed her undergraduate and medical training at the University of Virginia and her residency at Georgetown University. She has spent more than 25 years building one of Charlotte’s most trusted women’s health practices.

After two decades of delivering babies and caring for women through every stage of life, Dr. Freeman-Kwaku made a deliberate decision to transition the practice to gynecological care only. That shift reflects her commitment to doing one thing exceptionally well: providing comprehensive, relationship-based gynecological care to women who deserve a provider who truly knows them.

Her clinical focus includes annual gynecological care, heavy menstrual bleeding, menopause and hormone therapy as well as  birth control.  She offers in office diagnostics and procedures for managing patients’ heavy periods. She is particularly passionate about reaching younger women early, building the kind of preventive care relationships that support a lifetime of good health.

Dr. Freeman-Kwaku believes that the whole woman matters, not just the presenting concern. That philosophy shapes every appointment, every conversation, and every care plan she builds with her patients.

She is married to Dr. Hans Kwaku and they have four children. In her spare time, she enjoys travel, time with her family, her church community, thrifting and gardening.
